No Coalition Position Decided - Peters
New Zealand First has made it clear that it will not make any coalition decisions until after the General Election.
The Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters, said today that reports about New Zealand First being more likely to go with Labour had been too “literal an interpretation” of comments he made on a Saturn Television programme.
“I have consistently said that we will not do backroom deals to decide governments. We will wait until the people decide in November who they want to represent them in Parliament, and then we will discuss possible coalition positions.
“New Zealand First is the only true centre party in this country. We are not aligned with the Labour/Alliance bloc or the National/Act axis.
“I think the people of New Zealand are aware of our stand.” Mr Peters said.
