To GST … or not to GST
ACT Finance spokesman Rodney Hide said today “it was time the Labour/Alliance block came clean on their tax policy.”
“Jim Anderton is campaigning on getting rid of GST in favour of a fatally flawed Financial Transactions Tax. Now he’s coming to Auckland saying he is going to fix chronic traffic congestion by giving the GST on rates back to a super regional council. Jim Anderton can’t have it both ways. He’s either going to be collecting GST or he isn’t it.
“Michael Cullen should also come clean. He should explain how he is going to fund $8.4 billion plus worth of promises with $2.4 billion extra in hoped for tax,” said Rodney Hide.
