Federated Farmers: Woolgrowers Should Exercise Their Right And Vote

Federated Farmers' NZ Meat and Fibre Chairman, Chris Lester, today urged all wool growers to complete the referendum form they should have received by mail over the past week, and make sure that they return it to the Wool Board promptly.

"Growers should not underestimate the relevance of this referendum. The outcome is vital for the next step in the McKinsey process and if this fails to provide the required mandate, the whole reform process will stall," warned Mr Lester.

"If wool growers have not received the referendum voting forms, then they should call the Wool Board's freephone number 0800 104 666 immediately to check they are registered. They should also ask for the forms to be sent by Fastpost."

"If wool growers have paid levies to the Wool Board in any of the past three years, then they could be eligible for a payout from the residual reserves."

"If growers are not registered, then they will not receive their entitlement - it's as simple as that," concluded Mr Lester.
