Catherine Judd For ACT President Endorsement
Former ACT Spin Doctor And Writer Endorses Catherine Judd For ACT President
I have been involved with ACT since
the early days when we were holed up in offices off Queen
Street and Roger was predicting poll support for the party
around – and slightly above – 50 per cent. I edited and
published Richard’s I’ve Been Thinking and Donna’s My
Journey, and then, when the party got elected, that award
winning weekly commentary, The Goss (RIP). So that’s
me.
In the important election coming up (I’m not talking about the general election) I’d like to say why I’d vote for Catherine Judd.
The first thing is that it’s not a vote against my friend Johnny Ormond. He’s a terrific asset to the party and deserves office, maybe even this office next time around.
My sense is that we’re six years down the track and not very much further ahead than we were five years ago. The message needs refreshing with new voices. Catherine has a great voice. She’s sensible, engaging, she’s clever: she’s new to politics. The electorate increasingly like people who are new politics.
She’s a woman, too, I notice, and considering ACT’s strengths and weaknesses, I would say her womanliness – or gender, as it’s called now – would be a very positive thing for the party.
