"Get Your Own Oscar, Helen"

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Get Your Own Oscar, Helen"

Libertarianz Deputy Leader Richard McGrath today described Helen Clark as a "second-hander", basking in the glory of Russell Crowe's achievement while being unproductive herself.

"Russell Crowe has earned the respect of his fellow professionals--and the patronage of people who pay to see his films--through his talent as an actor," he said. "Helen Clark's talent, on the other hand, seems to consist solely in redistributing the wealth others have created."

McGrath dismisses yesterday's gushing and nationalistic press statement from the Prime Minister, calling it "a thinly disguised opportunity to push two of her little empires that we are all forced to underwrite - Creative New Zealand and the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage."

Libertarianz would dissolve these two government departments and wrench their employees and various hangers-on off the state nipple. "The government has no business sponsoring films, art, music and culture via the slave-labour taxation system," McGrath confirmed. "Actors like Russell Crowe, Anna Paquin, Sam Neill and others have made it to the top on merit, not by way of handouts. It's time this slush fund for certain parasites in the arts establishment was refunded to the taxpayers from whom it was stolen."
