'State Theft Finished In Five Years,' Say Libz

Alternative Budget Released - 'State Theft Finished In Five Years,' Say Libz

Consistent with their work ethic, Libertarianz have released their alternative budget exactly one day ahead of Michael Cullen. "But unlike Michael's budget," points out Libertarianz Finance Spokesman Tim Sturm, "ours shows that we can get government out of our lives within five years."

"That's right," confirms Sturm. "This budget shows that within just five years New Zealand can afford to pay off its entire government debt, pay out existing pensioners and state dependants, AND build a credible police and defence force. At the same time all taxes can be abolished except for a flat income and company tax rate of just 15.5%, with income tax not kicking in until the first $10,000pa."

"We don't yet know the details of Cullen's budget," says Sturm, "but we do know for sure that government appropriations will increase. And further, Cullen has already indicated that he is prepared to target his theft against past earnings."

"Libertarianz, by contrast, is the only party advocating government by consent, instead of coercion. Unfortunately, we are far from that happy position now - as the ghost of Ian Mutton can testify," says Sturm. "Our unfortunate present position is not only completely unnecessary," he says, "it is immoral. The transitional Libz budget shows we can change that in just five years, and people will then be free to spend their money how they wish to."

"There will be no more die-while-you-wait government health system, no molestation of our children's minds through state-controlled education, and no more state-sponsored dependants with their hands out. People will be free to purchase whatever level of health and education they choose, make whatever financial preparations for their old-age they choose, and contribute however much they like to charity, or to friends and relatives. All of that will be, quite properly, their own business."

Asked what happens after the five years of his transitional budget, Sturm says: "The level of government expenditure required to fund police, defence, and law and order - once existing debts and liabilities have been paid off - will be an average of just $55 per week per working person," which he says is "easily recoverable through voluntary contributions, donations from large benefactors, and registration of contracts and title deeds and the like. The main difference is that a coercive government won't be in your face demanding your money with menaces."

The full Libertarianz Alternative Budget for 2001-2 will be available from midnight tonight at www.freeradical.co.nz/lotsofmaths/ where you can find a budget summary, budget details, and a downloadable budget document,

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
