A nationwide rally in support of a GE-Free Nation will mark the handing over of the long-awaited report from the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Genetic Modification to the Government.

Rallies have been organised outside town halls and public venues in over 40 towns and cities throughout New Zealand, from 12pm-1pm on Friday 27th July – the day the report will be handed over to the Government.

Actions will include a “GE Free supper” in Auckland with Green MP Nandor Tanczos, music and stilt-walkers in Hamilton, fast food at Mrs Greasyspoon’s Mobile Deathwish Café in Taupo and presentation of petitions to declare Napier and Hastings as GE-Free cities.

Organiser for the Coalition for a GE-Free Environment Aotearoa New Zealand, Stephanie Howard, said that the rally was a chance for New Zealanders to celebrate New Zealand’s current GE-Free status and show their support for a GE-Free future.
