Green MP Favours Benefits Over Jobs

"Yesterday, in the House, Green MP, Sue Bradford asked Mr Maharey whether the government planned on continuing a sanctions regime to get people off the benefit rather than valuing parenting for it's contribution to society," according to Lindsay Mitchell, Libertarianz associate spokesman for the deregulation of welfare.

"Is Ms Bradford thinking clearly? Good parenting contributes to society. Bad parenting does not. Bad parenting has a negative impact on society. Bad parenting stems from the shirking of parental responsibility to the state."

"You cannot pay an individual to become a good parent. This is an absurd notion that is at the very heart of the tragic rate of family breakdown today."

"The Libertarianz believe that steadily increasing state intervention is to blame for the declining quality of parenting, as evidenced in all manner of social problems that have skyrocketed since the seventies."

"Nanny state has become more than just a turn of phrase. Thousands of children will never know the security of an intact family or the security of a stable home. The state has indeed, for these children, literally replaced the "parent". Unfortunately the state cannot love or cherish or nurture them," Mitchell continues.

"The government is buying social problems by paying people to have and bring up children they cannot afford. What we need is less welfare - not more. What we need are jobs - not benefits!"

"It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!"
