Libz Call For Clark To Be 'Socially Responsible' On Power Bills

"Disgusting" is how Libertarianz Leader Peter Cresswell described the statement by the "Great Leader Comrade" Helen Clark that managers of power companies need to be "sensitive to social needs," picking specifically on privately owned power retailer Freshstart. Cresswell reiterates the response of the Todd Energy CEO: "People are socially responsible if they pay their bills."

"Clark should wake up and realise that it is the extremely high current wholesale rates at which the government-owned power generators (Meridian, Genesis and Mighty River Power) are selling power to electricity retailers that are making them struggle - small privately owned competitors like Freshstart, and state owned power retail companies alike. In actual fact," notes Cresswell, "Clark's government holds the majority of power generation and retail customers "

"I look forward," says Cresswell, "to Comrade Clark following her own advice by declaring that all Meridian, Genesis, On Energy and First Electric retail customers need not worry about paying their bills. These are all STATE-OWNED and STATE-CONTROLLED power companies; all actually must follow Clark's commands - will she now be waiving her own customers' bill payments," wonders Cresswell, "or just demanding it of her private competitors?"

"Even better, perhaps Clark could show her own 'social responsibility' by putting people before money and stop taxing them, or at least ease up the brutal tax penalty regime and cut taxes to let people keep more of their money so they can afford to pay for their power". And maybe she can also be 'socially responsible' about tax bill deadlines, and IRD thuggery" declared Cresswell.

"However, that would mean less money for MPs luxuries, and we couldn't have that!" concluded Cresswell.

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
