Heartless Helen Shows Contempt For Victims

"When the world froze in horror where was Helen?" asked Peter Cresswell, leader of the Libertarianz Party. "Upwards of 6,000 lives were taken in the horror in New York, and around the globe world leaders hurried into emergency huddles to map out a plan to deal with world terrorism. Not Heartless Helen. She continued on her trip to a Left-wing congress as if nothing happened. Even her compatriots realized such a conference at that time would be tasteless and cancelled the meeting."

The nations of NATO - which have often disagreed with American policy - said Cresswell, "recognized the severity of this situation. They invoked the clause in the NATO agreement which said that an attack on one nation was an attack on all of them." Cresswell noted that the ANZUS (Australia, New Zealand, United States) Treaty has the same obligation written into it.. Article V says: "an armed attack on any of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack on the metropolitan territory of any of the Parties."

Three days after the attack Australia implemented Article V. "But when the world was weeping for the thousands who were slaughtered Heartless Helen took the time out to announce that as far as she is concerned New Zealand is no longer an ally of the United States," said a disgusted Cresswell. "At the very least the timing of her announcement was totally tasteless. I submit it displayed utter contempt for the victims and the people of the United States, who have always been our friends."

Clarke bases her interpretation on the fact that New Zealand does not allow nuclear-powered US naval vessels to dock in New Zealand. "A silly policy meant to placate the radical Greens is now being turned into something quite different," said Cresswell. "Clarke and her Loony-Left coalition have not only cut New Zealand's mutual defence obligations with the United States, but with Australia as well. While turning our backs on allies she's been warming up to nations like North Korea who have helped sponsor terrorism. Exactly on which side is Heartless Helen in this new war against modern piravy?," asked the Libertarianz leader.

"Our relationship with friends like Australia and the United States have reached a new low but Helen wants to be cosy with every radical anti-American group around. Now that these terrorists have made it clear that they don't care who they kill - hundreds of their victims this time around were not American citizens, - can we afford to repudiate a treaty that has stood for almost half a century?" asked Cresswell. Cresswell has pointed out that individuals allied with terrorist groups are already living in New Zealand. "Now that Helen has made her contempt for America clear to the world we can expect these terrorists to see New Zealand as an easy base for staging their crimes against humanity.

Clarke has never "been fit to govern" said Cresswell, "but her timing to repudiate the ANZUS Treaty reveals such a lack of humanity that one has to question her decency as a human being. There are times to debate the ANZUS Treaty but this is not one of them. It is heartless and contemptible to make pronouncements like this when the American people are doing everything possible to dig out the victims at the World Trade Center. It is doubly cruel when we consider how the Americans have always been our friends. But now Helen gives them the cold shoulder and announces that New Zealand will face this new world of terrorism without one single ally left. This is how she treats our friends. But she gets all warm and cuddly with every fringe radical group provided they share her contempt for the productive forces of capitalism. The people of New Zealand have created a Frankenstein monster who is not a Centrist but who, when the world really needs a unified force against evil, shows her radical leanings and spits in the face of a grieving American nation. In a criminal such sentiments would be shameful; in a Prime Minister they are unforgivable. The time has come for her to go and go quickly. Her continued presence shames the nation."
