Wellington people are invited to come and take action for a GE Free Environment, as part of a nationwide day of action.

Actions to take part in include

* launching the petition for a GE Free Wellington City * registering homes as GE Free * Signing a newspaper pledge * Spelling out GE Free in human letters to the Government

The world's longest GE Free sandwich will also feature. The sandwich is sponsored by Pandoros Bakery, Chantal Organic Wholesalers, Clean Greenz Organics, Commonsense Organics, Lawsons Organic Farms, Poneke Organics Petone and Soulfood Organics.

Popular local bands Trinity Roots, Dana Éclair, The Millstones and Rage Against the GE-ne will be playing in the square.

Wellington actors Loren Horsely, Taika Cohen, and Robert Magasiva are expected to join Saturday's event.

Speakers include: Neil MacGregor, Soil Scientist, Massey University, Stuart Edwards, Bio-Gro, Sue Kedgley Green MP and Phillida Bunkle Alliance MP.
