Council of Trade Unions president Ross Wilson has offered the strong support of the CTU to locked out workers at Generalcable.
250 members of the EPMU have been locked out by Generalcable to try and force acceptance of a 2% pay offer.
“The CTU condemns this sort of behaviour by employers who continue to try and use Employment Contracts Act tactics to prevent workers getting a fair settlement,” said Ross Wilson today.
“It seems clear to me that the workers’ claim of 4% is a fair one and I have congratulated them on taking a stand against this sort of unreasonable bullying behaviour by Generalcable.”
Ross Wilson said the CTU stood ready to organise any support necessary to ensure the Generalcable members are able to keep up the fight for a fair deal.
