WILLIE JACKSON MP ON ELECTION SPECIAL

Mana Motuhake leader Willie Jackson will represent the Alliance on Friday's (7/6/02) edition of NGA TINO POUTAMA.

National Maori language radio service Ruia Mai is broadcasting a weekly bilingual political special in the lead-up to this year's general election. Hosted by Ruia Mai political editor Shane Taurima, NGA TINO POUTAMA gives political parties and groups the opportunity to promote their strategies and policies for Maori, to Maori.

The deputy leader of Alliance and a list member of Parliament, Willie Jackson is an advocate and spokesman for urban Maori and has a long involvement as a union organiser. He will be joined in Ruia Mai's Auckland studio by Maori health worker Naida Glavish who is standing for the Alliance in Te Tai Tokerau.

NGA TINO POUTAMA is broadcast between 10am and 11am every Friday and includes political representatives speaking in both English and Maori as well as questions and answers with the host. Calls are taken from listeners around the country on 0800 462 747 between approximately 10:30am and 10:50am. Listeners can also tune in on the Internet via the website www.ruiamai.co.nz and the show will be replayed every Monday night between 5:05pm and 6pm.

The remaining shows in NGA TINO POUTAMA include: National (Friday, June 14); Labour (Friday, June 21); and the political wrap (Friday, June 28).

NGA TINO POUTAMA is funded by New Zealand On Air and Te Mangai Paho. It is available to the iwi radio network and is also broadcast on Ruia Mai's frequency in Auckland, 1179AM. The Ngati Whatua station is part of Mai Media Limited which operates Auckland's number one radio station, Mai FM 88.6.
