March --- Day Of Unity,Peace and Prayer

Sunday: Sept. 8th. 2002. 1.30pm .

Assemble at: Queen Elizabeth Square, Downtown Auckland.

March up Queen St. to Aotea Square.

A coalition of Islamic groups, joined by other interfaith groups such as the Council of Christians and Muslims, Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace, and Global Peace and Justice Auckland, have called for a National Day of Unity, Peace and Prayer to coincide with the anniversary of last year's attacks on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon.

They ask all faith communities to participate by opening houses of worship on September 11th for interfaith visits, prayers for peace and other activities which foster national unity and tolerance.

The remembrance will begin in Auckland with a solidarity march for peace on Sunday 8 September at 1.30pm from Queen Elizabeth Square (cnr Queen and Customs Street) to Aotea Square. All are encouraged to invite people to join in and support this effort as well as initiating and supporting activities in their own areas and places of worship.
