TVNZ Chairman should consider his future

TVNZ Chairman should consider his future

Ross Armstrong’s position as both chairman of Television New Zealand and of crown research institute, Industrial Research Limited, are severely compromised in light of his recent actions and he should consider his future in these two state-funded roles, PSA national secretary Richard Wagstaff said today.

“Mr Armstrong’s announcement last week that he was setting up a ministerial group which could benefit private companies who joined, compromises his position as the head of public sector organisations. This announcement came in the very same week that the State Services Commissioner stated publicly how crucial it is for those in the public service to maintain neutrality, integrity, and professionalism.”

Richard Wagstaff said Michael Wintringham’s comments were made following the release of the State Services Commission’s Annual Report which he used to emphasise the importance of political neutrality in the public service.
