Workers want extra leave

Workers have given a ringing endorsement to a claim for a fourth week’s annual leave.

Some 300 workers meeting in Auckland today listed the extra leave as a top priority in the Metals and Manufacturing collective agreement negotiations.

The Metals is the country’s largest private-sector industrial agreement. It covers more than 2000 workers at more than 200 companies.

The workers’ union, the EPMU, and the Employers and Manufacturers Association will start negotiating tomorrow to renew the agreement.
