Shuffle the pack and spot the
proliferator!
Auckland/Geneva 2 May 2003 - Greenpeace has created a deck of cards to help the public, governments and weapons inspectors identify the real weapons proliferators.
Greenpeace has issued the cards to Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) delegates in Geneva, with ID photos of the eight major nuclear proliferators to provide guidance on who should be eliminating their nuclear arsenals.
The full pack of cards can be downloaded from: http:// http://www.greenpeace.org.nz/pdf/cards.pdf
Presidents Bush, Putin, Hu Jintao, Chirac, Musharraf and Prime Ministers Blair, Vajpayee and Sharon - the leaders of the US, Russia, China, France, Pakistan, India, UK, India and Israel, are together responsible for the production and deployment of more than 36,000 nuclear bombs globally.
“These states are in material breach of the NPT and of an International Court of Justice ruling that the use and threat of use of nuclear weapons were illegal,” said Glyn Walters, Greenpeace New Zealand Campaign Manager.
“While the US and UK justified their invasion of Iraq and removal of the Saddam Hussein regime as a ‘war for disarmament’, they have failed to find evidence of any significant weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.”
“They have ignored their own obligations to disarm under the Non Proliferation Treaty, and apply double standards when it comes to the nuclear and other WMD arsenals of states such as Israel, India and Pakistan.”
Greenpeace is representing the
millions of people from all over the world who want to see
intensive scrutiny and elimination of not only Iraq’s and
other so called "rogue states'" suspected arsenals of
nuclear weapons, but the elimination of all them, no matter
who possesses them.
