ACC medical misadventure review appropriate
The Government’s announcement yesterday of a review of the medical misadventure provisions of the ACC scheme is appropriate, PSA national secretary Richard Wagstaff said today.
“PSA represents allied health professionals, many of whom work with ACC claimants. While we have yet to closely look at the consultation document, in principle we support the review as we believe it will strengthen the no-fault provisions of the Act.”
Richard Wagstaff said PSA agreed with ACC Minister Ruth Dyson that the current provisions could be seen as confusing or arbitrary.
He also said that ACC as it stands is not set up to adequately assess provider competence.
“The Health Practitioners’ Competence Assurance Bill which is currently before Parliament is the appropriate vehicle for dealing with issues of competence.”

our allied health members and looks forward to making a
submission.”
