PSA Agreement Strengthens Social Partnership

MEDIA RELEASE

05 November 2003

PSA Agreement Strengthens Social Partnership

“The renewed Partnership for Quality Agreement strengthens the social partnership relationship between the largest public sector union and the Government,” Council of Trade Unions president Ross Wilson said today.

The new Partnership for Quality Agreement with the Public Service Association was signed off today by the Prime Minister, Helen Clark.

“The agreement reflects the European-style social partnership model of unionism endorsed at the recent CTU Conference,” Ross Wilson said.

“It is through social partnership agreements that unions can influence conditions of employment in the broadest sense.

“It also recognises the legitimate role of unions as social partners in democratic society,” he said.
