Arnott's Bows to Terrorism

Arnott's Bows to Terrorism

Arnott's has made a decision to reverse its change in policy regarding GE ingredients, earning the ire of the Libertarianz party. Caving into threats by the so-called 'People's Moratorium Enforcement Agency' to use direct action against Arnott's and other product distributors on December 13th, Arnotts have pledged that they now will source all ingredients from non-GE products.

"This backdown has only occurred because Luddite terrorists pledged a day of 'direct action' against the company," says Libertarianz Deputy Stephen Berry, who maintains that 'direct action' is a leftist euphemism for terrorism, "that Arnott's backdown has now rewarded in full."

Berry points out that "eco-terrorists such as the PMEA rabble" reject persuasion and rational argument in favour of threats and incoherent ranting, suggesting, he says, "the vacuity of their anti-GE position. If these people do not want to consume GE products themselves, then they are under no obligation to do so. If they wish to stop companies including GE ingredients in their products, they should use the benefits of the market to achieve this. Should enough people stop buying a product containing GE, this will affect the profits of the supplier and they may choose not to include GE in their product. Such an approach is completely consistent with the non-initiation of force and the right of the individual to choose what they consume."

Libertarianz has always campaigned for the rights of the individual and has continued to do so on the GE issue. Berry urges, "Ignore those who advocate terrorism against producers of GE. They seek only to deprive you of your rightful choice. The anti-GE campaigners care nothing for rights and will violate any of them to achieve their aims. The PMEA has demonstrated this to be true and it is very disappointing that Arnott's has allowed their own rights to be violated in this manner."
