"There are so many issues to address that no other government agency has the skill and resources for the multi-faceted approach needed to oversee the Plan."

The Action Plan actively seeks to provide women with greater opportunities for financial independence, quality of life and work/life balance.

These opportunities were the result of discussions and negotiations that have taken place over the past 12 months. Women need to actively participate alongside all government agencies to ensure the successful outcome of the Action Plan.

"While the Action Plan is only the start of the journey women wish to take, it is important for the men of New Zealand to become active partners of the Plan as well," stated Anderson.

"The solutions and goals women seek will enable a more inclusive New Zealand society for the betterment of all."
