Final Farewell For High Ranking Army Officer

FINAL FAREWELL FOR HIGH RANKING ARMY OFFICER

Major General Martyn Dunne, CNZM, was farewelled today after 27 years of service. Most recently employed as the Commander Joint Forces New Zealand, Major General Dunne leaves the Army to take up a position as the Comptroller of Customs with the New Zealand Customs Service.

Major General Dunne began his military service with the Territorial Force before being commissioned into the New Zealand Army as an Infantry Officer in 1971. He has held a number of key appointments throughout his career, most notably as the New Zealand Senior National Officer with the initial INTERFET force deployed to East Timor and as Commander Joint Forces New Zealand.

Brigadier Lou Gardiner will take over the position of Commander Joint Forces New Zealand in November, until then the position will be filled by Air Commodore Graham Lintott.
