Keep Looking At The Big Picture, Says Wellington Regional Chamber Of Commerce

“We warmly congratulate all successful candidates in the local body elections” said Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce President Peter Steel this morning. Mr Steel was speaking on behalf of the 1,160 company members of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“In doing so, the Chamber would like to once again stress the importance of a region-wide approach to business vitality and economic development for all of us. We consider that there has been good progress towards greater regional cohesion over the last couple of years, and we want to see this trend continue.”

“All of us know that the greater Wellington region offers not only rapid bandwidth, easy face-to-face communication and proximity to central government – but also the smartest and most internationally savvy workforce you’re going to find anywhere in New Zealand, and perhaps even Australasia.”

“The Wellington region does have a number of well known constraints on its economic growth – the most familiar of these on a daily basis is of course traffic congestion. Again more effective regional advocacy and action will be the key to getting through this blockage.”

“The Chamber likewise strongly supports Council-funded work by organisations such as Positively Wellington Business and Positively Wellington Tourism. We would call upon all Councils in the greater Wellington region to keep backing these delivery agencies to the full, for the sake of a wider and greater Wellington prosperity.” Mr Steel concluded.
