Voluntary Euthanasia Societies Merge

Voluntary Euthanasia Societies Merge

Frank Dungey (President, Voluntary Euthanasia Society, Wellington) and Jack Jones (President, Voluntary Euthanasia Society (Auckland) Inc.) announce the merger of the two Societies.

Agreement on a merger strategy was reached following an invitation from the Wellington Society.

The new national organisation will be known as Voluntary Euthanasia Society of New Zealand Inc. Its office will be in Auckland.

The name change and new Constitution have been registered with the Registrar of Incorporated Societies.

A Members' Meeting will be held in November to elect a national committee.

A major priority will be to set up branches throughout New Zealand.

The primary objective to bring about legislative change remains the same. It is intended that the merger will increase influence on public opinion and Members of Parliament.
