October Monthly Economic Indicators Released

The October Monthly Economic Indicators (MEI) was published on the Treasury Website at 2pm. The report provides a summary of recent economic events with a focus on economic activity in the September quarter.

Domestic demand remains strong and looks likely to sustain growth in GDP over the rest of the year. We continue to expect growth to slow over 2005 with the easing in net migration inflows, recent increases in interest rates begining to slow growth in domestic demand and the terms of trade likely to ease from its current high level.
