Libz Defence Policy: "God Defend Our Freeland" is not enough!

"Did John Howard snub Helen Clark because of her Government's policy of downgrading New Zealand's defence forces? Apparently not. But is her Government's policy one of bludging off Australia's Defence Forces and downgrading our own? Well, yes it is," says Libertarianz Defence Spokesman Robert Winefield, who proposes in his release today of Libertarianz Defence Policy that New Zealand "actually have a defence force."

"In a post-9/11 world singing God Defend New Zealand is not enough," he says.

"A country worth defending must be able to defend itself," says Winefield in his policy release. "In a post-9/11 world, the 'benign defence environment' claimed by Helen Clark is looking more than a little sick, and our run-down defence forces even sicker." "A Libertarianz government will equip and maintain a modern defence force able to defend this country's borders," declares Winefield.

"We will withdraw from UN operations, and instead maintain alliances with other free nations that help to achieve the goal of defending New Zealand, and will act with those allies when specific action is in furtherance of the defence of New Zealand." ‘
