Transmission Gully Best option for Wellington

Mark Blumsky - National Candidate for Wellington Central

25 July 2005

Transmission Gully Best option for Wellington

Transmission Gully is clearly the best long term solution for Wellington's traffic problems, and it has my full support says Mark Blumsky.

"National's policy makes the gully route affordable. If Wellingtonians want action on transport then they should vote National.

"National has not only committed to moving all the Petrol Tax over to road funding but has also said it will work actively to attract the private sector into funding new roading. The combination of these two policies would ensure Transmission Gully was viable , even if some form of toll was needed.

"If we don't move ahead with Transmission Gully now, we're going to find ourselves having this debate in twenty years time. Wellington can't afford to continue to have its growth constrained by inadequate investment in roading infrastructure. Now is not the time for minimalist solutions.

"Wellington needs a strong voice on this issue, and I'm standing for Parliament for Wellington Central because that voice hasn't been there when Wellington needed it, " Mark Blumsky says
