Maori Separatism Continues

The Maori Party’s demand for the entrenchment of the Maori seats continues the dangerous trend towards separatism says The Republic of New Zealand Party Political Leader, Kerry Bevin.

“They seem hell bent on building a nation within a nation. This is quasi Apartheid and we cannot have this here.”

Mr Bevin said his party’s platform was to push ahead with Treaty settlements as quickly as possible and reach settlements with claimants on a fair and final basis

“Once we settle the claims we can then move forward with a written Constitution that will replace the Treaty.”

Mr Bevin said that while Republicans are well aware that we have people from many different cultures here, the Party did not believe that there should be governmental institutions based on race, ethnicity or creed.

He said that Republicans were firm in their belief that their must be equal rights for everyone.

“Once we have adopted the Constitution, a Republic of New Zealand Party Government will remove all institutions based on race including the Maori seats. “ Ends
