Bali explosions - update 8, 11.40am, Tuesday 4 October

[unclassified]

The Ministry has so far received enquiries about 585 people, of whom 443 have been confirmed alive and well.

New Zealanders concerned about family and friends in Kuta and Jimbaran should try to contact them directly in the first instance.

They can also call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on 04 439 8000 (from overseas +64 4 439 8000)

Two New Zealand Police officers remain in Bali. New Zealanders in Bali are advised to exercise extreme caution and to contact family and friends in New Zealand to confirm they are safe.

We have had a report of a New Zealand man injured in one of the explosions. The man's injuries were not serious, and he was not admitted to hospital. We have no word of any other New Zealand casualties.

The next update on number of enquiries will be later this afternoon.
