Rod Donald steals Winston's Policies

"Once again Rod Donald demonstrates his anti-property rights, anti-foreigner pedigree with his call for an end to '...land sales to foreign corporations and individuals who are not New Zealand residents'," notes Libertarianz Spokesman Russell Watkins.

Watkins points out, "Odd Donald's hatred of foreign money in the name of protecting New Zealanders' interests blinds him to the obvious facts. By making such transactions illegal, he would penalise not only New Zealanders who may well score a windfall from that foreign money, but he also penalises the housing market as a whole, i.e., 65% of New Zealand adults who own houses and have enjoyed a significant increase in their capital base. On top of all that is the blatant disregard this communist has for the private property rights of New Zealanders; he believes he has the right to tell home owners who they can and can't sell their houses to."

"If Donald wants to help struggling New Zealanders get into their own home he should call for the end to all the legislation that makes housing expensive such as impact fees, the RMA, pernicious building codes, district plans and zoning. Further help for first home buyers would be to stop taxing the arse of them which Donald and his hippy mates seem to love so much," concludes Watkins.
