Defence Guard of Honour for Parliament Opening
A 100-person tri-service Guard of Honour from the New
Zealand Defence Force will provide ceremonial support to
mark the State Opening of Parliament at 2.00pm, Tuesday 8
November on the forecourt of Parliament.
As the
Guard conducts a general salute at Parliament, the Army’s
16th Field Regiment will fire a 21-gun Royal salute at Point
Jerningham.
As the Governor General approaches the
dais, a Herald of Trumpets will be sounded by four
trumpeters from the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The
Central Band of the RNZAF, will also play during the
ceremony.
