National Distribution Union Release: Rod Donald Helped
Shape our Political Landscape
Laila Harré - National
Secretary
NDU National Secretary Laila Harré has
described the death of Green Party Co-Leader Rod Donald as
"a shocking blow to the causes he so strongly advocated".
The NDU extends aroha to Nicola, Holly, Emma and Zoe and
Rod's Green Party colleagues.
Laila Harré said Rod had
made more of difference to New Zealand in a too-short life
than most even attempted.
"His leadership of the
campaign for MMP and his key role in developing a thriving
Green Party helped shape our political landscape.
"As
the Government and Greens work to implement a successful Buy
New Zealand campaign I know that every time I choose New
Zealand products over imports I'll be marking one up for
Rod.
"Rod had a passion for social and environmental
causes. He also had a real love of the political process
itself and that was an important asset for the Green Party.
Rod is irreplaceable and will be missed deeply by his
friends in the international movement for peace and
justice."

Spotify has to be one of the most interestingly futile mouse-wheels of 21st century capitalism. Run, run, run goes the Spotify mouse but it never, ever makes a profit. For reasons set out below, it maybe never will. But it won’t be for wont of trying. Reportedly, Spotify’s music library contains 70 million tracks and it adds 60,000 more each day. By some estimates it adds on average, one new track every 1.4 seconds. (No wonder it's so hard to keep up with new music.) Spotify has 345 million active users, and 155 million of them have been willing to pay a subscription in order to enjoy their music ad-free. Ads are not a major driver of company revenue...
