New Zealand Police National News Release 2:20pm

20 June 2006

Auckland City Police investigating the attempted kidnapping and kidnapping of a 17 year-old and a 14 year-old woman respectively in Westmere last Friday, have submitted a blanket that fell from the kidnapper's car to the ESR for examination.

The blanket fell from the car that the 14 year-old escaped from when it slowed down near the corner of Old Mill Rd and Garnet Rd. She had been forced into the vehicle at about 10.30am while walking down Motions Rd to Western Springs College.

The blanket features a large image of a tiger head with a dark blue border. Anyone who recognises the blanket as belonging to someone they know should contact Detective Sergeant Glenn Baldwin of the Avondale Police on 09 820 5700.
