A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the murder of Wan Biao, the student whose body was found in a suitcase floating in the Waitemata Harbour on Good Friday, April 14.

The latest arrest was made last night in Surrey Hills, Sydney, by the Australian Federal Police who've been working closely with Auckland City CIB staff over the past 10 weeks.

The 21 year-old former Waikato University student will appear in the Central Local Court, Liverpool St, Sydney, sometime today where he will face charges of kidnapping and murder.

Detective Inspector Bernie Hollewand who's lead the investigation of Wan Biao's death, says his team has been greatly assisted by the AFP who've put in hundreds of officer hours and resources.

"This arrest could only have been effected with AFP assistance. AFP team leader Nathan Barron and his staff have done an outstanding job so we're greatly appreciative of the excellent work they've done," he said.

Three alleged co-offenders charged with kidnapping and murder or accessory after the fact, appeared in the Auckland District Court on Wednesday [June 28] and were remanded to appear at a depositions hearing at the Court on September 4.
