Air Force Holds Inaugural Women's Leadership Forum

The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) is paving the way for more women leaders within its ranks, with an inaugural Women's Leadership Forum.

The conference, held today at Whenuapai Air Base in Auckland, is aimed to encourage and motivate women in the Air Force.

There are currently 401 women serving in the RNZAF.

Organiser Wing Commander Leanne Woon says the forum is designed to give women the tools to become strong leaders both within and outside the military.

"It's about giving our women strategies to cope in what is a predominantly male environment and teach them how to lead not only men, but other women as well," said Wing Commander Woon.

"Hopefully we'll also get an idea of what support women in the Air Force need to be able to move up the ranks and also encourage them to support and look out for each other," she said.
