The Head of the Waitakere CIB Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton, says today's post mortem examination has revealed the cause of the death of the two deceased persons in the double murder investigation in West Auckland.

The examination has concluded the 41 year old female deceased sustained an injury to the throat. The 50 year old male deceased was found dead in a running motor vehicle while it was parked in a locked garage at the Kervil Avenue property. Police have released the names of the two deceased.

They are:

BRAME/Denise/Shirley

DOB 24/03/1965 - Aged 41 years.

Resident of Westmere, Auckland

BARNHAM/Richard/Albert

DOB 21/06/1956 - Aged 50 years.

Resident of 12 Kervil Avenue

Te Atatu Peninsula - Auckland.

The couple had lived together for about 25 years. Their relationship ceased a few months ago.

"We are satisfied with our investigations into the incident that took place at the Te Atatu Peninsula address on Saturday 14 October 2006. We are not seeking anyone else, and there has been no weapon used in this incident," Mr Sutton said.

'There will be further forensic testing carried out as a result of today's post mortem. A scene examination is being finalised today. The results of these matters plus all the details of our police investigation are now referred to the Coroner.'

"It will be another two weeks before Police conclude this investigation," Mr Sutton said.
