Sensible Sentencing Trust Wins Service Award

They may not be the darlings of the Government but the community that gave them their start loves them.

National Justice Watchdog group The Sensible Sentencing Trust won third place in the Business Service section of Napier’s Inner City Customer Service Awards last night in a field of 10 finalists.

Held by the Napier Inner City Marketing Group to encourage and recognize organisations which deliver top shelf customer service, manager Meg Rodel said the fact the Trust was voluntary made their win even more outstanding.

“Here’s a group that aren’t even being paid to do what they do but because they’re passionate they excel. We have to salute businesses like that because if they can do it with no financial reward there’s no reason why others can’t step up,” said Mrs Rodel.

Trust founder Garth McVicar said the win was a pat on the back for the thousands of New Zealanders who have supported the group since its establishment five years ago.

“The real winners are the courageous victims of crime who work with us and the fantastic team who make the operation tick.”

“New Zealand is a fantastic country and being able to help people who are getting a raw deal and give a little bit back to the community has been an incredible experience.”

“The Sensible Sentencing Trust was established to make New Zealand a safer place for all and this award will help make that dream a reality. Our thanks go out to everyone who has made the journey possible,” said Mr McVicar.

(First and second in category went to Synergy Fitness Ltd and Jennings United Travel respectively)
