Te Wānanga o Aotearoa Picks Ups free 20 Hours funding for Children and Families

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is to accept the offer of free childcare hours from the government to help it meet the Ministry of Education goals of increased participation and the provision of quality education by employing qualified and registered teachers.

We have three Early Learning Centres attached to our campuses in Hamilton, Te Awamutu and Tokoroa. The subsidy will allow us to offer up to 60 children free childcare hours.

This will make a big difference to both the children and their families because it will give the children access to high quality care and education and their parent’s access to programmes offered at the Wānanga. We view this as positive support for children and their parents.

As we are planning to re-open the Early Learning Centre attached to our campus at Mangere the subsidy will make a big difference to students and staff at that site and also to the community it serves.
