Dominican Fr Fasts Against Depleted Uranium

PRESS RELEASE 7 March, 2007

There is now compelling evidence that depleted uranium (DU) is permanently damaging Iraq's soil, air and water and causing severe genetic mutations in its people.

More than 250,000 returned military personnel in USA and UK suffer from mysterious "Gulf War Syndrome", which includes birth deformities in their children.

The USA and UK have exploded more than 1000 tonnes of depleted uranium across Iraq and previously in Balkan war zones. DU remains radioactive for 2.5 billion years.

Birth defects in Iraq have risen 300% and leukemia 600% since the first Gulf War (2001)

THIS EVIDENCE HAS MOVED DOMINICAN CATHOLIC PRIEST PETER MURNANE TO BEGIN AN ALL-DAY PUBLIC FAST EACH FRIDAY OF LENT (until 6th April) outside the US Consulate (23 Custom St East) in Auckland.

He invites the public to sign a petition to send to the US President and Congress, to end immediately all use of depleted uranium.
