Police Investigating Alleged Assault At Haumietiketike
On 6 March Porirua Police received a complaint on behalf of a patient at Haumietiketike, the secure unit for intellectually disabled patients at Porirua.
Police are conducting inquiries in relation to this complaint, which involves a patient who alleges that he was assaulted by two staff members.
Police cannot comment further until the investigation is complete.
Police are also aware that Capital and Coast District Health Board is conducting its own investigation in relation to a second complaint made by another patient. Pending the outcome of the CCDHB investigation, a formal complaint may be laid with the Police.
