Chickens Coming Home To Roost

CHICKENS COMING HOME TO ROOST

“Poetic Justice,” was how the Sensible Sentencing Trust described the latest polls showing Labour’s support declining and the Greens not getting enough votes to be returned to Parliament.

Trust Spokesman Garth McVicar said the Government and their partners in crime were paying the price for their total arrogance in ramming through legislation the public overwhelmingly didn’t want a bar of.

“The mutilation was started by the Greens with Sue Bradfords anti-smacking Bill and now Labour seems determined to finish their own self – demolition job with the Electoral Finance Bill.”

McVicar said the irony was that the Legislation designed to ensure their own survival was actually going to achieve the exact opposite, “The Electoral Finance Bill looks like it is going to bring about the absolute and utter annihilation of all those Parties stupid enough to support it.”

“Not only has this Government ignored the voters on the Anti-smacking and the Electoral Finance Bills, they have also gone against public opinion by putting more violent criminals back on the streets – in some cases living next door to their victims.”

“Innocent New Zealanders are being murdered by criminals on Parole or Bail simply because the Government wants to reduce the Prison population – murder and mayhem on the streets has now become a daily occurrence – apparently acceptable to those in power.” McVicar said.

“This Government was given a very clear mandate when they came to power in 1999; the Law and Order referendum gave the incoming Labour Government a directive that 93% of the voters did not want violent criminals on the street.”

“In their wisdom they have done the opposite and simply recycled violent offenders and allowed them out of jail at a fraction of their Judge given sentence –the result – an escalating violent crime rate and prison population.”

“The chickens are coming home to roost!”
