At approximately 6.25pm this evening there was a fatal car crash on SH12, Opononi. The driver of the vehicle was the sole occcupant and subsequently died at the scene.
The Serious Crash Unit are currently investigating and no details of the deceased are available at this time. The road is still open as the vehicle hit trees off to the side of the road.
