New Zealand Police Alert: Firearms Incident, Manukau City

Location of incident: Clover Park, Manukau City
Incident Type: Firearms Incident

Police are presently clearing an address in Othello Drive, Flatbush; the scene of an exchange of gunfire just before 8.00 pm.

Police received a number of calls reporting up to eight shots being fired in the street and the Eagle helicopter was able to follow one of two cars seen leaving the street to Middlemore Hospital where a man with gunshot injuries was let out. As police were speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, a second vehicle arrived with a second injured person.

Police Armed Offenders Squad members are presently clearing an Othello Drive address where it was reported some of the shots were fired from. Neighbours have been taken to safe areas.

There are several Police cordons in place in the Othello Drive, Dawson Road and Boundary Road areas and motorists and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

A full media release will be made at a later time.
