NZ Police Alert: Shooting Incident, South Auckland

New Zealand Police Alert - Shooting Incident, Otara, South Auckland

Location of incident: Otara, South Auckland
Incident Type: Shooting Incident

At approximately 8pm this evening there was an incident in Othello Drive, Otara, Counties-Manukau, where shots were fired.

As a result of the shooting, 2 people have been admitted to Middlemore Hospital with gunshot wounds. At this stage their injuries are not considered life threatening. One victim has sustained injuries to their head and the other victim injuries to their leg.

The Police Armed Offenders Squad attended the incident and cleared the address in Othello Drive. No occupants were present at the address when Police arrived.

Police investigators are currently at the scene and local enquiries are being carried out with residents in the street.

A full media release will be made at 10am tomorrow morning. Senior Sergeant Denise Traill from Counties-Manukau will be organising the media release in the morning.

Police will not be releasing any further information on this incident until 10am tomorrow.
