PSA Commends Decision of Immigration Service Head To Resign

The PSA commends the decision of Immigration Service head, Mary Anne Thompson, to resign.

“There have been continued questions about her handling of residency applications by members of her family,” says PSA National Secretary Richard Wagstaff.

“We were concerned that these questions would linger while Ms Thompson remained at the Immigration Service.”

“For that reason we believe she has made the right decision by resigning and we commend her for making that decision.”

The PSA is now waiting for the results of the investigation by the State Services Commissioner into how the Department of Labour handled the situation involving Ms Thompson.

“We hope that the commissioner’s investigation gets to the bottom of this case,” says Richard Wagstaff.

We can’t allow any questions to linger that will erode the public’s trust in the public service.”
