The Sea of Faith Network and Climate Change
The Sea of Faith Network and Climate Change
The Sea of Faith Network is an association of people who have a common interest in exploring religious thought and expression from a non-dogmatic and human-oriented standpoint.
Their 2008 Annual Conference, to be held in Blenheim from September 26 to 28 will discuss the religious implications of climate change. The Conference theme is “The Ecological Imperative” which recognises that the earth is sacred, vulnerable and capable of „retaliation‟ towards humankind. It goes on to ask “Is Tomorrow‟s God Gaia?” in recognition of the cautionary appraisal of the fate of humankind made by the British scientist, James Lovelock.
The main speakers are: New Zealand‟s best-known theologian Prof. Lloyd Geering ONZ; Dr. Carolyn King, Dept. of Philosophy at Waikato University; and the acclaimed New Zealand photographer Craig Potton.
