Press Release: Launch of http://www.thinkbig.org.nz

On the day of what would have been Sir Robert Muldoon’s 87th birthday, a new website has launched, trying to offer a ‘Think Big’ perspective on the modern world and the approaching elections.

The site contributors (who will for now remain anonymous) behind http://www.thinkbig.org.nz aren’t advocating for a return to the failed scheme, but wanting to pay tribute to what was a very ambitious plan to fix the New Zealand economy. Those involved also lament the absence of a strong, polarising figure like Muldoon to reinvigorate New Zealand’s interest in politics, and putting the development of the country ahead of points-scoring and the towing of party lines.

“A new approach is needed to problem solving in New Zealand” said one of the sites’ contributors. “There are so many people out there who want to help out and get involved, but the pettiness and lies that plague our political scene have undermined its credibility so much that no one wants to be involved. We think that’s sad. We want people of all political persuasions to come together and talk about issues in a Think Big kind of way – where solving the problem is all that matters.”
