Inaugural 'Great NZ Vote Party' in full swing

There is just one day left to enter the exciting Great New Zealand Vote Party competition. Young people are being encouraged to hold a party or celebration on election day to get people voting. Parties can be registered on wwww.voteparty.conz to be in to win DJ Mikey Havoc.

Supported by the Electoral Commission, the youth-driven initiative is in full swing but the competition ends on Thursday.

Its easy to register your party or other daytime gathering on the competition website at www.voteparty.co.nz.

Mikey Havoc, VoteParty Spokesperson says, "This is a revolutionary initiative – something that could make a huge difference to getting young people voting in our elections. The 'Vote Party' is a very simple but powerful idea to get more young people voting this Saturday. Elections should be a celebration – a reason to have a party."

It is the first time in this country that political party youth wings and the Electoral Commission have joined forces to get more young people voting.

There are nearly 195,000 first time voters in this year's election, with potential for many more people between 18 and 25 years to participate.

"If you are having a party on Election Day, make sure you register it on the Great New Zealand Vote Party site and be in to win me! But even if you don't register it, gather your friends for a party on November 8 and get yourselves to the polling booth," said Mikey Havoc.
