Public Support Helps Spread Christmas Cheer

Christmas themed food hampers prepared for service users at Downtown Community Ministry are ready after a big-hearted response from members of the public.

Several groups, businesses and many individuals have provided the necessary foods that make up the festive hampers.

Not only did most of the contents comprise of donated goods but, after donating a huge number of cans of fish, meat stews and corned beef, a group from Blueprint Church volunteered their time to pack the hampers so they’re ready for pick up.

DCM Director Stephanie McIntyre says, “It’s great to pass on the generosity of people who support our work and want to spread some Christmas cheer to our service users.

“We are very appreciative of everyone who has given money, food or their time to support what DCM is doing for people in need.

“We know how much the people using our services look forward to the Christmas hampers. The up-sized parcels contain canned meals, fish, vegetables, fruit, milk powder, festive treats and toiletries. They provide a pleasant boost to the meagre fare many of the people receiving them survive on.”
