"Let aid in now" - hunger striker Stu Colquhoun

“Let aid in now” demands hunger striker Stu Colquhoun

Hunger striker Stu Colquhoun says that the Sri Lankan government must give unrestricted access to humanitarian aid agencies into the conflict areas immediately. The New Zealand government must demand this, and encourage other nations to do the same.

Stu Colquhoun is on the sixth day of his hunger strike, and his health is quickly deteriorating.

Stu Colquhoun and other students founded the Justice for Tamils Students Association group recently with the purpose of campaigning for the rights of the Tamil peoples of Sri Lanka. The urgency of their plight due to the escalation of the Sri Lankan government military campaign compelled them to begin ongoing demonstrations. This has included an ongoing 24hour vigil at the University of Auckland since 18 May 2009, and as of midnight 17 May 2009, the JTSA President, Stu Colquhoun began a hunger strike to raise awareness and demand that international aid be given access into the conflict zone.
